Floor grinding and stone polishing on Gran Canaria

Grinding and polishing marble, terrazzo and natural stone – often an alternative to removing a worn stone floor.

Stone floor grinding on Gran Canaria

Keep your stone floor rather than replace it

Many homes on the island have marble, terrazzo, limestone or travertine floors that look worn but can be restored. Grinding and polishing restore a smooth surface and shine without removing the floor.

We begin by assessing the condition of the floor. The right treatment depends on the type and hardness of the stone, the depth of the damage and any previous treatments.

  • Marble and terrazzo
  • Limestone and travertine
  • Certain granite floors
  • Multi-stage grinding
  • Polishing and crystallisation
  • Scratches, stains and uneven areas
  • Cleaning and protective treatment
  • New ceramic and porcelain tile floors

How the work is carried out

The floor is ground in several stages using progressively finer grits, followed by polishing and, where the stone is suitable, crystallisation to create a denser, more hard-wearing surface.

Damage, joints and uneven areas are repaired before fine grinding. Afterwards, the floor is cleaned and can be treated with stain protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can all stone floors be ground?
No. Marble, terrazzo, limestone and travertine are well suited to grinding, while some harder or surface-treated floors require other methods. We assess the floor on site.
Can you lay a new floor instead?
Yes, we lay ceramic and porcelain tiles when the floor cannot be restored or when you want a different look.
