Ventilation on Gran Canaria

Extraction, fans and fresh air in homes on the island – to reduce moisture, condensation and stale air.

Why ventilation matters on the island

Many homes on Gran Canaria have high humidity and limited air exchange. This leads to condensation on surfaces, stale air and odours, particularly in bathrooms and properties left empty for part of the year.

We assess how air moves through the property and address what is missing: extraction from bathrooms and kitchens, a supply of fresh air and fans suited to the room.

  • Bathroom and toilet extraction
  • Cooker hoods and ducting
  • Fresh air supply
  • Low-noise fans
  • Humidity-controlled fans
  • Duct installation and grilles

Ventilation as part of a renovation

A bathroom or kitchen renovation is the right time to review air exchange. Ducts, fans and wiring can be installed before walls and ceilings are closed up, giving a better result than adding them later.

Ducts and cabling can often be completely concealed in suspended plasterboard ceilings.

Ventilation and moisture are connected

Inadequate ventilation often leads to damp and mould problems. If damage is already present, it must be repaired at the same time as air exchange is improved, otherwise the problem will return.

Air conditioning

Air conditioning has its own page, where we explain installation, replacement of older systems and the factors that influence the choice of system.

Frequently asked questions

We have condensation and odours in the bathroom – what should we do?
This is usually caused by extraction that is not working properly. We check the fan, duct and air exchange, and address any shortcomings.
Is opening the windows enough?
Not always. Humid rooms and properties left empty for part of the year need air exchange that works even when no one is at home.
